Daniel Levy is ready to play hardball over Harry Kane after setting a huge asking price for the striker, while a top boss is keen on the Tottenham job – according to Thursday’s papers.
LEVY DIGS HEELS IN OVER KANE SALE
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to fight any threat of losing Harry Kane at the end of the season by reportedly slapping a huge £250m valuation on the striker.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have made a poor start to the season and were embarrassed by League Two Colchester in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, prompting more suggestions that star man Kane could ask to leave in his search for trophies.
Spurs have not won any silverware since beating Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup final and, realistically, only have two more chances this season in the Champions League and FA Cup.
England skipper Kane, 26, is getting ever more desperate to lift a trophy and that could mean looking for a move elsewhere next summer, particularly given Pochettino’s uncertain future at the club and the fact that several top stars are expected to leave on free transfers in 2020.
But according to the Daily Telegraph, Levy has recognised that Europe’s top clubs are ready to test his resolve for the striker and therefore will only sell him for a world-record fee.
Levy will only cash in if they receive £250m, eclipsing the £198m figure that Paris Saint-Germain paid Barcelona for Neymar.
