Three Premier League clubs are on alert after Real Madrid put a top star up for sale, while the Gunners are keen on a £22m centre-back – all in Friday’s papers.
PREM TRIO ON ALERT AS REAL PUT PLAYMAKER UP FOR SALE
James Rodriguez is set to depart Real Madrid in January, with a host of Premier League clubs reportedly ready to battle for the playmaker.
The Colombian finished his two-season loan with Bayern Munich last summer, but the German giants opted against signing him permanently and brought in Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona instead.
As a result Real chiefs looked to offload the South American, with Serie A side Napoli just failing in a bid to land the 28-year-old before the summer window closed.
And despite scoring once in nine appearances for Real this term, El Desmarque reports that club president Florentino Perez has told Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes the player can leave in January.
Manchester United, who failed to bring in an attacking midfielder this summer after targeting Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen, are named as the most likely destination for the unwanted star.
It’s claimed Zidane could use Rodriguez in a player plus cash deal for Frenchman Paul Pogba, who has long been a target for the Bernabeu club.
Tottenham are also said to be admirers of Rodriguez and view him as an ideal replacement for the outgoing Eriksen, while Arsenal are still searching for fresh attacking options despite their defensive struggles this season.
Serie A champions Juventus could also make a move for the player, having already registered an interest in the player.
