Liverpool and Tottenham are keen on a former Manchester United flop whose form has rocketed in the last couple of seasons, while Barcelona are keen on an Arsenal star – all in Thursday’s European newspapers.
LIVERPOOL, TOTTENHAM KEEN ON DEPAY
Liverpool and Tottenham ‘like’ the look of Lyon winger Memphis Depay, according to reports in Italy.
Depay, formerly of Manchester United, has enjoyed an upturn in form since leaving Old Trafford, following up 12 goals and 16 assists last season with seven goals and the one assist already so far this term.
According to Calciomercato, the Reds and Spurs are both keen on Depay, although the report carries no more weight than that.
Should a move ever materialise for the Dutchman from either of the Premier League duo, it would be expected that Depay would have to fight with the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane for a place in the starting lineup.
At Tottenham, meanwhile, Depay would also fit in and would challenge Son Heung-min out wide in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Since moving to Lyon, Depay – whose contract runs out in 2021 – has scored 50 goals and assisted 32 others in all competitions.
