Manchester United are ready to make a move on two Ligue 1 stars, while Tottenham are refusing to sell a top star in January – all in Tuesday’s papers.
MAN UTD SET FOR DOUBLE RAID ON LIGUE 1
Manchester United are reportedly interested in recruiting French duo Boubakary Soumare and Moussa Dembele.
Lille ace Soumare has been attracting a number of Europe’s top clubs over the last couple of years but a report on ESPN claims that United are ready to make their move for the 20-year-old.
The report adds that the Red Devils have scouted the midfielder several times this season and were in attendance when the Ligue 1 outfit drew 1-1 with Valencia in the Champions League last week, with Soumare putting in an excellent performance.
The young star is being viewed as a long-term replacement for Paul Pogba, although United are not looking to replace one of their key stars just yet – despite strong links to Real Madrid and former club Juventus.
Soumare is rated at around €35m to €40m, although he is out of contract next summer and could leave on a free.
If he did move to Old Trafford then Soumare could team up with another possible United recruit in Dembele.
United have showed an interest in the Lyon striker for many years now, following him closely when he was at Fulham and then Celtic.
It’s no secret that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still after a new central striker to replace Romelu Lukaku, and it’s thought that Dembele is keen on a return to England.
The 23-year-old forward has scored seven goals in 10 matches in Ligue 1 this season, and although Lyon are not keen to sell it’s thought that a substantial offer from the Red Devils may change their mind.
