A former Queens Park Rangers star has tipped centre-back Rob Dickie for a Premier League move, naming Everton and Norwich City as potential destinations.
Dickie has been a consistent performer for QPR over the last couple of seasons. The centre-back made 45 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals.
During the current campaign, he has played 44 games, and has scored five goals.
Given Dickie’s impact in the Championship, he could be set for bigger things. Former QPR man Kevin Gallen thinks the 26-year-old could make a move to a current Premier League side.
“Dickie could go to, like, an Everton if they get relegated. Even a Norwich. They’ve got Premier League money, parachute money. They’ve got money to spend,” he told the West London Sport Podcast.
Gallen even thinks Dickie could make the step up to the Premier League.
“It’s just a good, solid signing if a team has that sort of money. Even if he goes to a mid-table club in the Premier League and they say ‘you’re a backup’.”
Leeds and West Ham were both linked with the defender in January.
Given some Premier League sides have reportedly registered an interest, it seems Dickie could be capable of making the step up.
A move to the top flight would be a big one for a player who was playing in League One just two years ago.
Dickie could bring £10million thinks Gallen
Gallen also mentioned the fee that Dickie might warrant, should he move on from Loftus Road.
“He’s got a good seven or eight years left in him so he’s not really high risk. If you’re signing Dickie for £10m, it’s not a high risk signing because you know what you’re going to get. Solid defender, good on the ball, good attitude,” he said.
Naturally, Gallen thinks a fee of that size would help QPR.
“I don’t think that’s a problem, selling Rob Dickie,” he said.
“Because if that money is then reinvested to make the actual squad and team better, I think that’s a good thing.
It remains to be seen whether Dickie will make a move this summer.
