Jose Mourinho has complained about Tottenham Hotspurs’s lack of attacking options, following their 2-1 victory over Norwich City.
Spurs moved up to sixth in the table, just behind Manchester United on goal difference, following the victory in which Dele Alli gave them a first-half lead which was cancelled out a penalty from Canaries striker Teemu Pukki.
Son Heung-min cropped up with a late winner, which ended a run of four straight Premier League games without a win and 270 minutes without a goal.
“It is a very important victory for us against a difficult opponent. We suffered in the second half and we only have ourselves to blame,” said Mourinho after the game in an interview with Match Of The Day.
“We are in a situation when I have to think, think, think. I look to bench and we don’t have attacking players. I had to take off Erik Lamela because of fatigue but we showed an incredible reaction to score a second goal.
“When Chelsea want to win they bring on Michy Batshuayi. When Manchester City want to change Gabriel Jesus they bring in Sergio Aguero.
“We are so, so unlucky with injuries. We get back Hugo Lloris and we lose Harry Winks. It’s incredible.”
“Everyone at the club wants to give the best conditions to the team but we think every day and communicate every day. We have to be calm.”
Spurs have been linked with a number of different attackers over the January transfer window, with the club reportedly looking for someone to step up in the absence of Harry Kane, who could be sidelined until next season.
The latest reports have suggested that Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose could be set to sign for the North London club, while AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek is another name that’s been touted.
“We probably made it more difficult than it should have been. We lost focus and conceded a sloppy goal,” added Alli after the win.
“We’re playing a different style and there has been a lot of positives from our performances even though they have not all gone our way. We are getting stronger and I think we are heading in the right direction.”
