Tottenham and Arsenal are both in the hunt for a Benfica defender, while a Liverpool star has admitted he would love to finish his career at Leeds, according to Thursday’s newspapers.

SPURS, ARSENAL CHASING BENFICA DEFENDER

Tottenham and Arsenal are reportedly ready to rival Napoli in the race to sign Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo in January.

The Serie A outfit have been beset by injury issues this season, prompting a potential raid on left-back Grimaldo in the new year, according to the Italian press.

But Portuguese media claims that Spurs and the Gunners are also in the mix for the 24-year-old, who is rated at €40million.

A Bola states that all three clubs will battle to land the player in 2020, although Arsenal’s link is perhaps surprising given that they only signed Kieran Tierney from Celtic over the summer.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are desperate to land two new full-backs in January – with current left-back Danny Rose having an indifferent campaign and previously admitting that he would be open to a move away from the club.
