Inter Milan are preparing a new contract for a striker to fend off Manchester United’s interest, while Chelsea’s price tag for a midfielder has put off Juventus, and Manchester City are stepping up their pursuit of a David Silva replacement – according to Friday’s European papers.
MAN UTD TO PICK BETWEEN HAALAND AND €111M STRIKER
Lautaro Martinez has emerged as an attacking target for Manchester United, despite his €111million release clause – but Erling Braut Haaland is another option.
According to FCInterNews, the Argentine striker is on United’s shortlist as they look for reinforcements up front.
Earlier reports had tipped United to battle with Inter for the signature of Bayern Munich veteran Thomas Muller, but they could be considering younger targets as well.
The report claims that Martinez, 23, is firmly on the radar of the Old Trafford hierarchy, with Inter preparing a new contract for him to ward off that interest.
As part of the new deal, his release clause would rise from €111m to at least €180m, while his salary would increase to €2.7m – nearly double what he currently earns.
With Barcelona also mentioned as an interested party, the report references United’s consideration of another promising striker, Erling Braut Haaland.
The RB Salzburg striker has started the season in red hot form, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – who coached him at Molde – was recently in no mood to discuss a bid for the 19-year-old.
