Euro Paper Talk: Midfielder the bait as Real prep €80m Arsenal raid

Real Madrid will hit Arsenal with a tempting €80m approach plus the chance to sign a midfield star in January, while Liverpool will make a check on a potential new No 10 next, according to Thursday’s European papers.

REAL TO SACRIFICE CEBALLOS AS JANUARY APPROACH FOR AUBAMEYANG IS PREPPED

Arsenal face a fight to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club beyond the winter window if reports in the Spanish media are to be believed.

The Gabon striker has a formidable record for the Gunners, having struck 46 goals in 70 appearances since his move from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.

Aubameyang, however, has made no secret of his desire to one day play for Real Madrid and it was quite the surprise Arsenal were given a free run at signing the striker once it became apparent that BVB were prepared to let him leave.

Now Don Balon claims Real are finally ready to launch a bid to bring the striker to the Bernabeu and believe Aubameyang would flourish in LaLiga and could be the man to rescue a season which already looks like trophy glory could prove beyond them.

The Spanish outlet claims Real are willing to spend €80m on Aubameyang but will use Dani Ceballos as bait to get the deal over the line.

Real had previously insisted that the dynamic midfielder would not be allowed to leave the Bernabeu as part of his season-long loan at Arsenal.

But the chance to bring in Aubameyang will see Real offer Arsenal the chance to make the signing of Ceballos permanent, though sacrificing their star striker in the process would surely not be in their thinking.

That said, the chance to claw back a profit on the striker, who at 30 years old will likely see his value deteriorate in the coming seasons, could tempt yet tempt them to do business.
