Manchester United’s scouts are busy with reports of recent missions in Italy, Turkey and Portugal, while Kylian Mbappe is heading for Real Madrid next summer for a world-record transfer fee, all in the Euro Papers.
MAN UTD SCOUT MIDFIELD METRONOME
Manchester United are one of several European clubs monitoring Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, claims Calciomercato.
The Italian outlet report that Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and United have all registered an interest in the central midfielder.
All three clubs sent scouts to watch Brescia’s 4-3 home defeat to Bologna on Sunday with the 19-year-old being subbed for the 10-man hosts on 79 minutes.
Sport Mediaset gave Tonali a 6.5/10 rating and hailed his precision passing, referring to him as the “master in the middle of the field”; the “metronome” before noting he retreated too much with the whole team in the second half.
United are on the hunt for a new central midfielder and with increasing speculation that Nemanja Matic will leave Old Trafford their need is becoming greater by the day.
The teenager has been linked with AC Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma, while in May there was also reported interest from the Premier League, in the shape of Liverpool and Manchester City.
Tonali helped Brescia secure a long-awaited return to Serie A, and while their president Massimo Cellino has claimed he will cling on to his prized asset, Tonali suggested in May he could move on.
“Comparisons with great players? The people who compare me to the great champions are pleased but when I come home and look in the mirror I am always Sandro Tonali,” he told Sportitalia (via Calciomercato.com).
“We do not know we know from one day to the next, what matters is to make the best choice for me. You can’t tell if I’ll go to Milan or Juve, maybe I’ll stay in Brescia and I’ll do my career there.”
