Liverpool have reportedly jumped to the front of the queue to sign a new keeper, while Barcelona are ready to offer Lionel Messi a deal for life, according to Sunday’s European press.
LIVERPOOL LEADING RACE FOR TURKISH STAR
Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, who is also wanted by Juventus.
Recent reports suggested that Juve were looking to beat Jurgen Klopp’s men to the €30m-rated stopper, but it is now claimed that the reigning Serie A champions are instead ready to open talks with Manchester United’s David de Gea in January.
The 23-year-old Cakir was watched by Liverpool scouts last weekend as the Reds look for a long-term back-up option for No. 1 Alisson.
Former West Ham stopper Adrian was signed over the summer and was forced into the side after Alisson suffered an injury in the season-opening win over Norwich.
However, it would appear that Liverpool rate Cakir very highly and could be ready to splash the cash to get their man in January – as reported by Turkish newspaper Gunes.
