Man Utd sent scouts to watch two top January transfer window targets at the weekend, while Arsenal player exits have pocketed them a further £45m, according to Tuesday’s papers.
MAN UTD SCOUTS WATCH BENFICA DUO
Manchester United reportedly sent scouts to Benfica’s match against Braga on Sunday to watch two top Portuguese players.
Defender Ruben Dias, 22, and 20-year-old midfielder Florentino Luis are the two players in question, both of which were linked with moves to Old Trafford this summer.
Sport Witness claims that the Red Devils had representatives present at the Braga Municipal Stadium to watch Benfica’s emphatic 4-0 win, with Dias and Luis their sole focus of attention.
The Eagles duo are considered two of Benfica’s brightest prospects, with Dias already having 11 Portugal international caps to his name, while Luis has been a first-team regular since his breakthrough campaign last season.
Luis is considered to be a combative defensive midfielder, an area of the pitch United are looking to improve given Nemanja Matic’s struggles to earn a regular starting spot under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, United will have a fight on their hands for both players – with scouts from Lyon, Bordeaux, Sevilla, Villareal, Celta Vigo, Atalanta and Norwich also in attendance.
Both men fit United’s current mould of signing young players with potential, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to revamp his squad at Old Trafford.
