Manchester United have snubbed a lowly £18m bid for a star and reassured him of his future role, while Celtic are looking at a Rosenborg man as a replacement for Kieran Tierney, according to Tuesday’s newspapers.
MAN UTD REJECT CHEEKY BID FOR FRED
Fiorentina have launched an £18m transfer bid for Fred – with the offer very quickly rejected by Manchester United.
The Brazil midfielder struggled to find his best form at Old Trafford following a £52m switch from Shakhtar Donestk last summer and was limited to just 25 appearances.
And with the player yet to feature so far this season, Fred has been strongly linked with a move to Italy.
And according to The Sun, Fiorentina have followed up on their initial interest in the player by launching a firm £18m bid.
That is obviously some £34m short of the fee United paid last summer and has, understandably, been rejected.
And now according to The Times, Fred has been handed reassurances over his role in the side this season, having been told the club don’t want to sell him.
As per the report, Fred has been told by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he will get game time this season though he will be expected to show some improvements after his initial season at the club.
The 26-year-old himself alluded to just that on Monday when he stated on Instagram that he was very much looking ahead to the season to come and planned to work hard in training to prove his worth to Solskjaer.
