Napoli are ready to offer a cash-plus-player deal to sign Mauro Icardi, while Juventus have their eyes on a Manchester United target if they can’t sign the Inter star – according to Sunday’s European papers.
NAPOLI READY TO POUNCE FOR ICARDI
Napoli are ready to offer a striker swap to Inter Milan for Mauro Icardi, according to reports in Italy.
Icardi has been frozen out at Inter since the arrival of Antonio Conte as head coach, with new Romelu Lukaku taking his number nine shirt.
The Argentine striker wants to move to Juventus, but Inter do not want to sell to their rivals – meaning a complicated set of operations to stop him joining the Serie A champions was formulated.
Reports had indicated that Inter would sell Icardi to Napoli, who would send Arkadiusz Milik to Roma, who in turn would move Edin Dzeko on to Inter.
However, Dzeko has signed a new contract at Roma, meaning that stage of the deal will be skipped completely. Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that Napoli are ready to offer €65m plus Milik to Inter, in hope of landing Icardi.
Despite his will to join Juventus, Icardi had reportedly set them an ultimatum to make a bid, giving them until Monday before he would start to consider other options.
The 26-year-old hitman, once linked with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, could be ready for speedy negotiations with Napoli in the coming week.
