Liverpool have beaten the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid to a Fulham starlet, while Arsenal are set to move on from Wilfried Zaha as they target another Premier League winger – all according to Monday’s newspapers.
LIVERPOOL AGREE DEAL FOR FULHAM STARLET
Liverpool have reportedly agreed to sign 16-year-old Fulham midfielder Harvey Elliott in what will be regarded as a major transfer coup.
A report in the Daily Mirror claims that the Reds have beaten the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG to the Premier League record-breaking star.
Fulham had offered the teenager a scholarship, but this was rejected by Elliott, according to the Daily Telegraph, with the talented star keen to continue his development on Merseyside.
The England Under-17s midfielder became the Premier League’s youngest ever player in May when he was a late substitute against Wolves at the age of 16 years and 30 days – breaking the previous record held by another Fulham player, Matthew Briggs.
The youngster mainly plays as a right winger but can also play inside and his main strength is said to be running with the ball.
The potential arrival of Elliott at Anfield this summer certainly makes sense, given that Liverpool are not expected to go big in the transfer market this summer – given the big-money arrivals of Virgil van Dijk, Alissson, Fabinho and Naby Keita in 2018.
