Tottenham look set to break their transfer record twice with the addition of two new midfielders, while Man City have put a £90m defender move on hold, according to Friday’s papers.

DOUBLE MIDFIELDER DEAL ON CARDS FOR SPURS

Tottenham could break their transfer record twice this summer, with Mauricio Pochettino keen wrapping up moves for Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele.

Having not made a single signing in the last two transfer windows, Spurs finally look set to splash the cash this summer – with Pochettino said to close to adding Real Betis ace Lo Celso and Lyon enforcer Ndombele to his ranks.

However, chairman Daniel Levy remains determined to drive a hard bargain over both players – despite giving Pochettino funds to strengthen, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

Spurs have already had a bid worth up to £53m for Lo Celso rejected, but the report states that they are set to make an improved offer over the next few days.

And they are also confident a deal can be struck with for Ndombele after opening talks with the Ligue 1 club for the £71m-rated France midfielder.

With Mousa Dembele heading to China back in January and doubts over the long-term futures of Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier, Pochettino is looking to revamp an area of the pitch were Spurs have also had injury issues with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko.

The potential arrivals of Lo Celso and Ndombele would add creativity and power to a Spurs side that had their most inconsistent season yet under Pochettino – despite reaching the Champions League final and qualifying for Europe’s premier cup competition once again.
