Manchester United are set to secure an impressive £150m raid on Atletico Madrid for two of their star men, while Tottenham have snubbed the chance to bring a Roma star back to the Premier League, according to Tuesday’s newspapers.
MAN UTD TIPPED FOR DOUBLE SWOOP ON ATLETICO MADRID
Manchester United are willing to match Manchester City and pay £62m Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri, according to reports.
That’s according to the Daily Star, who reckon United could beat City to a signing for the third transfer window in four, having previously done them in the race to sign Fred and Alexis Sanchez in recent times.
The player has repeated his desire to stay at Atletico this summer, but it seems the Spanish giants are willing to cash in on the player they rate at €70m.
And according to the Star, via Mundo Deportivo, United lead City, Bayern Munich and PSG for the 22-year-old, given his first-team prospects will be far better suited at Old Trafford.
Rodri could even be joined at Old Trafford by his Atleti teammate Jan Oblak, who reportedly wants to leave the club this summer and is interested in a move to United.
According to ESPN, and via the Daily Mail, the imminent departures at the Wanda Metropolitano of Antoine Griezmann, Rodri, Diego Godin, Juanfran and Filipe Luis have concerned the towering Slovakian keeper and he too is seeking a summer switch as a result.
And according to ESPN, a source has informed them that United have made an approach for the keeper – rated as one of the world’s best – and are willing to meet the €100m (£88m) exit clause that exists in his contract.
With David De Gea likely to move on, the signing of Oblak would more than compensate United for their loss.
The double swoop on Atleti would set United back a combined £150m. Paul Pogba sale anyone…?
