Swansea boss Curtis names duo as transfer targets

Swansea City boss Alan Curtis has confirmed the club have “an interest” in signing Everton forward Steven Naismith and Napoli midfielder Jonathan De Guzman.

Naismith appeared to be on his way to Norwich City in an £8million deal when the transfer window opened, but that talk has cooled and Swansea are hoping to bring him to South Wales instead.

“I think he’s on a list [of targets],” Curtis said. “I know he’s a player available – he’s an excellent player.

“Like all good players, if we can afford to bring him in, then we will be interested.

“We’re still looking for that main striker. Steve is probably someone who plays just behind the main striker but someone we will be interested in.”

De Guzman, meanwhile, is expecting to leave Napoli this month after falling out of favour at the Serie A side, with his agent saying he will “probably” return to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a successful two-year loan spell at the Liberty Stadium between 2012 and 2014, and Curtis says that, if he is available and fit, they would be interested in bringing him back to the club.

“I think Jonathan’s name has come up with the current crop of players, but I’m not sure,” he added.

“He may be injured at the moment so I’m not sure if he’s available. Jonathan served the club well and if he was made available, I’m sure we would be interested.”
